Since its founding in 1965, the Chequamegon Symphony Orchestra (CSO) continues to provide enriching, engaging, and entertaining orchestral concerts to the residents of northern Wisconsin. Orchestra members are Northland College students and area people from all walks of life, including teachers, doctors, ministers, computer programmers, engineers, retirees, and more. Because of our rural location, musicians come from as far as 60 miles to participate in the orchestra.
The CSO performs concerts with an eclectic variety of repertoire, including the classics, pops, concertos featuring guest artists, and collaborations with the Northland Festival Choir.
The CSO, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is affiliated with Northland College through our partnership with the Northland College music program. The orchestra rehearses and performs in the Alvord Theatre on the Northland Campus, Ashland, Wisconsin and occasionally at local churches.
Chequamegon Symphony Orchestra Mission Statement
The Chequamegon Symphony Orchestra's mission is to give Northland College
and area musicians the opportunity to perform symphonic literature in a
college/community-based orchestra and to provide orchestral performances
that enrich the cultural life of northern Wisconsin at a price that
minimizes financial barriers to attendance.
